Great essay, Perhaps the first thing I need to clarify is my aspirations about having religion in my life. I think that all of us have a keen interest in how religion works. My experience, and I love to hear from anyone else about this, is that religion is avoided/not discussed/denigrated at work. I think this is because so many people were raised within a framework of dogma and ritual that didn't work very well. There is a core value of 'spirituality' in all of us, however people frame it, as whatever religion. Unless we 'get this', I don't think we can stabilize at S4. And 'getting it' is relatively easy. First, we breathe deeply and let go of our hard core beliefs and opinions (there's a very good essay on this point, by Laurence Platt, if you want to check that out). Second, we notice that our humanness arises in language, how we speak. Third, we have a choice, a say in the matter, of spirituality (another word for self-actualization). Fourth, make it an inquiry: how can we language this topic experientially to share it, give it away, promote it, listen it into existence, and live it for ourselves?

Notice, the last is like an open inquiry that lives every day, if we are 'present' to it. This inquiry could include a lot of Christianity, or a lot of Subud, or a lot of Sufi, or whatever works for people. At the end of the day, without a loving acceptance of others as part of our own totality, S4 will not show up. And the quicker we understand and practice the principles, the better our organizations will work.
